Genesis Global has UKGC Licence Suspension Lifted
Swift UKGC Licence Suspension Lift shows Genesis dedication to UK regulation
Genesis Global has been given the green light to resume operating in the UK market for their online casino brands, after the UK Gambling Commission lifted the suspension of its remote operating licence on Wednesday 14th October.
The swift licence suspension lift means that Genesis can resume trading with immediate effect and has stated that they are working hard to take their improved casino brands live again in the next few days, ensuring that their customers are given the responsible and safe gaming environment which they have always worked hard to deliver.
They will continue to work closely with the UKGC to ensure that all concerns are fully satisfied, and further updates about all the ongoing developments at Genesis will be provided accordingly.
Genesis Global CEO Ariel Reem said: “We are pleased to announce that the suspension of our UKGC licence has been lifted, as a result of the intensive work and huge dedication our business has demonstrated in the last few months. This is clear testament to our commitment to both UK regulations and to our customers. We are also hugely thankful to our staff for their dedication and trust, and to our suppliers who have assisted in rectifying a difficult situation which arose during unusual economic circumstances for the whole world.”
The Licence suspension lift has been reflected on the UK Gambling Commission’s website.

New Jersey State Athletic Control Board Adopts Sports Betting Policy
The New Jersey State Athletic Control Board (SACB) announced that it has recently adopted an updated sports betting policy for all licensees, officials, and employees.
Effective immediately, the policy prohibits unethical betting practices and reinforces the commitment to maintaining fairness and public trust in combative sports, including boxing, wrestling, extreme wrestling, kick boxing, and combative sports exhibitions, events, performances, and contests.
“With this action, we are safeguarding the integrity of combative sports events. By implementing these standards, we are sending a clear message that unethical behavior will not be tolerated in New Jersey’s combative sports industry,” said SACB Commissioner Larry Hazzard Sr.
The policy applies to board officials, such as inspectors, timekeepers, judges, referees, and physicians; board members, including the chairman; and board employees, such as the commissioner and deputy commissioner. Promoters, participants, and their agents are also encouraged to adopt integrity policies in line with these standards.
Key policy provisions include those related to betting restrictions, prohibited conduct, training, and enforcement, among others:
• Officials, members, and employees are prohibited from betting on any combative sports event, both within New Jersey and globally. Legal betting on non-combative sports is allowed, provided it complies with local laws. Board employees must register with the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) before placing such bets in New Jersey.
• All forms of illegal betting, including through unauthorized platforms, are strictly prohibited.
• Prohibited conduct includes match fixing and acting on or spreading insider information.
• Board personnel are prohibited from working for sportsbooks or their affiliates.
• Promoters and participants, along with their agents and managers, must refrain from betting on combative sports events held in New Jersey or engaging in any actions that compromise the integrity of performances.
• All stakeholders, including board officials, members, employees, promotors, participants, agents, managers and seconds, are obligated to report any violations of this policy to the SACB Commissioner immediately.
• Board personnel are required to undergo training and acknowledge this policy.
• Violations may result in disciplinary actions, including fines, license suspensions, or revocation.

Australia’s Government Delays Gambling Ad Ban
Australia’s ban on gambling advertising will not be introduced this week. This may also be the last week the Australian Parliament sits this term, making the bill’s progression uncertain.
The government has been further discussing gambling regulation since an inquiry last June. The late Member of Parliament Peta Murphy’s report included 31 recommendations, including a full ban of gambling advertising.
Gambling is a particular issue in the country. According to research, Australians lose around $25 billion on legal gambling every year, the largest per capita losses globally.
Earlier this year, ReadWrite reported that “one million gambling ads had been aired in one year in Australia,” according to an open letter signed by prominent Australians. Despite these external and internal pressures, the parliament is still yet to respond to Murphy’s report or make the proposed bill public.
Competition Minister Andrew Leigh said that the government was prepared to bring in restrictions “immediately” but that they still don’t have enough numbers to pass the bill.
“It’s quite clear at the moment … the numbers aren’t there to progress the reforms the government has put through, which would significantly curtail gambling ads around major sporting events so there would be a blackout period before and after sporting events,” he said.
“If we thought the numbers were there, we’d put it to the parliament immediately, but the fact that the numbers aren’t there says everything about the way in which the opposition is moving into blocking mode.”
This directly contradicted the view from sport minister Anika Wells, who said that a ban on gambling ads was not ready for parliament yet.
She said: “I’ve got national sporting organizations and professional codes who are worried about how this will impact the viability of their financial model … I think it needs more nuanced work.”
The Labor government continues to be split on the issue of a full advertising ban, with some believing a partial one is the better decision.
