Kiron Interactive, a leading provider of virtual sports and numbers games, has reported immediate success following the launch of its innovative data-lite platform, Kiron.Lite with the online gaming giant Betika in Kenya.

Kiron.Lite, an efficient, low-bandwidth solution, is specifically developed and tailored to meet the requirements of African markets. Following the Q1 launch, Betika’s turnover on virtual products considerably increased in the first four weeks.

By minimising mobile data usage for players, the platform presents games in a format that removes bandwidth-intensive visuals while still replicating the excitement of in-play betting. Integrated into Kiron’s Omnichannel RGS, BetMan, the intuitive system also seamlessly connects with the customer Wallet API.

Betika’s customers now have access to Kiron’s hugely popular Virtual Sports games, offering familiar features for a complete betting experience, enabling 24/7 placement of multiple bets across a wide variety of sports fixtures using the same betting markets as real events.

The thrill of in-play betting every two minutes, enabled by a staggered schedule of events, provides essential replication of the excitement of sports betting, ensuring regular betting opportunities in a fully customisable package. From content and colour theme to odds and frequency of events, all are operator-selectable to meet the preferences of local audiences in any market.

The reported strong performance since the launch with Betika reflects the efficiency and flexibility Kiron.Lite delivers to the end-user experience.

Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Betika is an established sports betting and gaming brand with operations across multiple African countries. This new partnership expands access to the operator’s Kenyan player base, empowering them to enjoy sports betting entertainment in the most accessible format on their mobile devices. The Kiron.Lite collaboration marks a significant milestone in delivering innovative betting solutions to the Kenyan market.

Steven Spartinos, Kiron Co-CEO, said: “We’re proud to have developed a delivery system that is specifically designed to counter the challenges faced by operations in some areas of Africa. We’re also delighted to be working alongside Betika, which now enjoys a significant advantage in a competitive marketplace in ensuring its players can get their hands on the right content without having to worry about data consumption.

“Kiron.Lite offers today’s betting opportunities that customers expect but in a much more user-friendly format. We’re confident Betika is now enjoying a far more streamlined product offering as a consequence.”

Peter Stagles, Head of Gaming at Betika, said: “This partnership represents great value to us, providing our customers with the Kiron products that they love in the most efficient manner possible.

“We pride ourselves on rewarding our gaming enthusiasts in Kenya and beyond and Kiron.Lite allows us to do that flexibly and capably. We’re excited to see its impact on our players’ betting experience with us.”

According to the InfoQuest survey, sports betting is the most common form of gambling in South Africa, with people placing bets on sports about 12 times a month on average. Casino gambling and horse betting are most popular on weekends, while lottery and online betting happen throughout the week because they are easily accessible online. The survey also reveals that the average gambler engages in three different types of gambling multiple times a month, underscoring the significant role of gambling in South African society.

The recently published SOFTSWISS South African market review highlights a growing interest in esports and fantasy sports, particularly among younger, tech-savvy demographics. Statista reports that 51% of South African survey participants are interested in esports betting, while the National Gambling Board (NGB) notes that 39% are inclined towards fantasy sports betting, especially in popular sports like soccer, cricket, and rugby.
