Play’n GO have released their final title of 2020, with a simple little slot by the name of Piggy Bank Farm.

This is not just another excellent release from Play’n GO; it also marks the fulfillment of their 52-game promise for 2020. While it was never really in doubt that the supplier would deliver, it’s now official.

Starting with Legacy of the Dead back in January, and finishing with this latest title, it’s been a phenomenal year for Play’n GO, with the release of a number of high-profile slots that performed brilliantly in the market.

A casual slot, perfect for a broader demographic, Piggy Bank Farm follows the story of Farmer Joe, who planted some plastic pieces with some valuable coins and up sprouted a field of Piggy Banks! It’s a zany premise guaranteed to bring a smile to players faces as they play this fun title.

Piggy Bank Farm has a markedly different feel from the adventurous theme of last week’s Golden Osiris release, and it is this variety that has made this year such a success for them.

Titles like Riches of Robin, Rich Wilde and the Shield of Athena, and Dawn of Egypt were just three titles to dominate upon their release; while innovative slots like Diamond Vortex, Gold Volcano and Riddle Reels; A Case of Riches all offered brand new ways for players to enjoy slot entertainment.

Of course, this year saw several high-profile sequels also put out into the market, the most anticipated being Reactoonz 2, which saw record numbers on its release day, and beyond.

While the year might be over, the work isn’t, according to CEO Johan Törnqvist, speaking about the company’s success:

“We have seen ourselves progress and raise the bar year on year at Play’n GO and, while 2020 represents our most outstanding achievement to date, we’re still looking for more.

We will continue to innovate, to entertain and to provide world-class services to our operating partners, as we look to cement our place as the worlds’ number one supplier.

2020 was great, 2021 will be even better.”

Looking at their track record, it’s easy to get excited over what Play’n GO will bring next.

Piggy Bank Farm is out on general release today.

Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) has become the first laboratory to achieve accreditation in Maranhão, Brazil. The accreditation allows GLI to perform tests and certification for the gambling and lottery industry interested in working with lottery and fixed-odds betting operators in the state of Maranhão.

The milestone is the latest in a series of regulatory achievements for GLI in Brazil. Lottery of the State of Maranhão is the third jurisdiction in Brazil to accredit laboratories, and GLI is accredited in all and the first to be authorized in all.

Cassiano Pereira Junior, president of Maranhão Parcerias (Mapa), highlighted the importance of the partnership between the Maranhão State Lottery (Lotema) and GLI. “Every day we strive to make Lotema even better, providing greater security for its users. The partnership with GLI is a concrete way of achieving this goal, as its certification laboratories play an important role for the gaming and lottery industry, guaranteeing the conformity, security, and integrity of the products and systems used by Lotema,” Cassiano explained.

“We are grateful to the Lottery of the State of Maranhão for granting GLI the laboratory accreditation, becoming the first to be authorized in Maranhão. It is extremely gratifying to see how Lotema empower themselves by trusting the technical compliance process to provide transparency, integrity, and accountability to all the industry stakeholders through the certification process. The laboratory accreditation is the first step for a successful implementation of the certification based on jurisdictional standards, and the reason why we at GLI take this step very seriously and with great priority every time a new jurisdiction opens. We feel responsible for being part of the solution towards a fast and efficient implementation of regulations, thus supporting further local industry development and sustainable growth. We are grateful to Lotema and excited to be part of its thriving industry,” said Karen Sierra-Hughes, Vice President of Latin America, Caribbean, and Spain.

Two of Alabama’s leaders in the hospitality and tourism industry — Wind Creek Hospitality, owned by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, and the McGregor family, owners of Birmingham Racecourse and Casino and Victoryland Casino — announced that they have entered into an agreement under which Wind Creek will acquire the Birmingham Racecourse. The sale is expected to be finalized by early 2025.

Wind Creek will transform the Birmingham Racecourse into a premier entertainment destination in the Southeast and will continue to offer parimutuel and historical horse racing games currently in operation and the facility.

“For over 30 years, we have worked to provide the best possible experience for our customers and employees, while generating significant tax revenue for the state of Alabama and local charities. We have paid hundreds of millions of dollars to the State of Alabama and to local schools, hospitals, charities and other organizations that need financial support,” said Lewis Benefield, President of the Birmingham Racecourse and VictoryLand.

Benefield said the McGregor family has consistently sought to enhance the gaming and entertainment options at the Birmingham Racecourse, but legislative hurdles have presented challenges.

“The people of Birmingham desire the same types of entertainment offered at other facilities in and around Alabama. Unfortunately, differing state laws and enforcement actions regarding gaming have limited our ability to compete effectively. The McGregor family will now focus their efforts on VictoryLand in Macon County and advocate for unified gaming legislation in Alabama which would capture much-needed revenue for the people of Alabama,” Benefield said.

“We are excited to bring the Birmingham Racecourse into the Wind Creek family. The McGregor family built and has operated the Birmingham Racecourse and Casino for decades. Over those years, it became clear to us that we share many of the same goals — providing great entertainment, attracting tourism and creating economic growth In Alabama. We are really looking forward to welcoming their employees and to moving forward together,” said Jay Dorris, President and CEO of Wind Creek Hospitality.

Stephanie Bryan, Tribal Chair and CEO of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, said the tribe has already been heavily involved in the Birmingham area, supporting organizations like the Birmingham Promise, Birmingham Zoo, and many others. She said Wind Creek will make this facility a major economic force for the area in creating more jobs, taxes, and support for the local community.

“Birmingham is one of the most vibrant cities in America, and we feel very fortunate that this acquisition will allow us to increase the investment and deepen the relationships that we already have in Birmingham. When it comes to attracting tourism, this is an incredibly important area of the state. We are committed to building on the success of both the Birmingham Racecourse and Casino and our Wind Creek brand by ensuring that this property will keep tourist dollars here at home and provide jobs that support Alabama families,” she said.

Bryan added: “As the leader of our Tribe, I am deeply grateful to the expertise and leadership of Arthur Mothershed, a Member of our Tribal Council and Wind Creek’s VP of Business Development, in representing the interests of our Tribe and our gaming business in this important acquisition and new venture.”
