Lightning Box Experiences Rapid Year-on-Year Growth Following Acquisition by Light & Wonder

Slots specialist reveals it grew by 57 per cent during first year since joining world’s leading cross-platform gaming company

Light & Wonder, Inc. has revealed that its specialist slots supplier LIGHTNING BOX has enjoyed a major surge in global growth following its acquisition.

Since joining the Light & Wonder family in August 2021, the studio has benefited from the Company’s superior expertise and commercial support, and has experienced year-on-year growth of 57 per cent while continuing to deliver its signature top-quality, land-based inspired entertainment to players around the world. In addition, August 2022 was Lightning Box’s biggest ever month in terms of revenues.

The Sydney-based supplier’s slot LIGHTNING SHENLONG entertainment platform, while LIGHTNING GORILLA – soon to be launched in Pennsylvania – has proven to be particularly popular in the U.S., sitting inside the top 20.

Light & Wonder’s dominance in the U.S. and Canadian online gaming market is underlined by the presence of three of its titles within the top 10 of the EGR North America slots rankings for July 2022, with Lightning Box’s CHICKEN FOX a new entry in the chart.

In addition, the LIGHTNING RESPIN and STELLAR CASH.

Lightning Box is currently live with more than 50 of the leading U.S. and European operators, including BetMGM, Golden Nugget, Hard Rock Casino, FanDuel, Resorts Casino, BCLC, Loto-Québec, OLG, Sky Bet, LeoVegas, William Hill, Betsson and many more, and releases up to 12 new titles every year through OpenGaming.

The iGaming Ontario Board of Directors has announced Joseph Hillier as the organization’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 8, 2025. Joseph’s depth in the Ontario igaming market combined with successful public and private sector careers make him the ideal President and CEO at this critical point in iGaming Ontario’s growth.

Joseph was most recently Chief Strategy Officer and Corporate Secretary at the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), where he delivered significant strategic and regulatory initiatives across the province’s alcohol, cannabis, gaming, and horse racing sectors. Prior to the AGCO, he served as Chief of Staff to Ontario Attorney General Hon. Doug Downey and led the development, launch and implementation of Canada’s first private sector-driven igaming market and the creation of iGaming Ontario. Joseph also spent more than a decade working in the financial and legal services sectors.

The Board expressed its sincere thanks to David Smith for serving as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer since Martha Otton’s retirement.
