THE 2022 WORLD SERIES OF POKER® SHATTERS RECORDS IN ITS LAS VEGAS STRIP DEBUT

Following an exciting eight weeks of play, the 53rd annual World Series of Poker officially concluded at its new home at Paris Las Vegas and Bally’s, the future Horseshoe Las Vegas. From star-studded celebrity appearances including Lisa Vanderpump, Vince Vaughn and Neymar Jr. to Espen Jorstad’s historic Main Event victory, the WSOP’s debut on the Las Vegas Strip delivered with its largest prize pools ever and a near record-breaking number of Main Event entries.

“As this year’s WSOP comes to a close, we reflect on yet another event that exceeded our expectations,” said World Series of Poker Senior Vice President and Executive Director, Ty Stewart. “We are incredibly appreciative of the players who traveled from near and far to make our first year on The Strip an overwhelming success. After 52 years, we are finally a Strip headliner, and this couldn’t be possible without the help of our great Team Members.”

2022 WSOP By the Numbers

  • In total, the 2022 WSOP live and online bracelet events saw a total of 197,626 entries from over 100 countries with a record-breaking $347,941,800 total prize pool, eclipsing the previous record from 2019 of $293,183,345.
  • The 2022 Main Event attracted a total of 8,663 entries, making it the second largest Main Event in WSOP history.
  • The Main Event welcomed participants from 87 countries competing for the $10,000,000 first place prize.
  • 2022 WSOP three highest participatory events: The Housewarming – 20,080 (4th all-time), The Million Dollar Bounty – 14,112 (6th all-time), Colossus – 13,565 (7th all-time).

Although this year’s live tournament is over, the action continues with the return of the WSOP-Circuit (WSOP-C) for its 18th season, with twenty-five scheduled stops. Please visit WSOP.com/2022/circuit for the latest news and information related to these events.

WHAT: The ‘Godfather of Poker’ and ‘Texas Dolly’ himself, Doyle Brunson, will kick off the 53rd annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event Final Table with an iconic Shuffle Up & Deal moment at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 15 inside the Bally’s Events Center. The moment officially commences day eight of play for the $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em World Championship, featuring the final ten players Espen Jorstad, Matthew Su, Matija Dobric, Aaron Duczak, John Eames, Adrian Attenborough, Michael Duek, Jeffrey Farnes, Asher Conniff and Philippe Souki. Media are invited to cover the kickoff event.

2022 WORLD SERIES OF POKER® IN REVIEW: WEEK FOUR HIGHLIGHTS AND WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO

Following a handful of star-studded celebrity appearances last week, the 53rd annual World Series of Poker once again raised the stakes in week four of play with a new millionaire crowned and poker legend Phil Ivey’s bracelet run. With less than two weeks until the Main Event, the excitement of this year’s WSOP is reaching a fever pitch with much more action in the weeks to come.

Week 4 Highlights

Last week, Neymar de Silva Santos Júnior competed in his first WSOP bracelet events. Neymar Jr. would go on to finish the week with his first-ever WSOP cash placing No. 49 and taking home nearly $4,000 in Event #41: $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty No-Limit.

Steve Alibini claimed victory in the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E event, beating out a field of 773 and taking home $196,089 in cash. Best known for producing some of Nirvana’s most iconic albums, Albini took home his first bracelet in 2018.

Poker professional, Daniel Zack, became the first player to take home two 2022 WSOP bracelets in Las Vegas. Zack won his second-ever WSOP bracelet during a seven-hour heads up earlier this month before earning his third bracelet during Event #40: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship this week.

Seven months ago, Bulgarian Yuliyan Kolev took home his first online bracelet. Now he’s accomplished this feat in-person beating a field full of bracelet winners on Wednesday night, taking home his first live bracelet and claiming a whopping $1,125,141 in winnings.
