GONZAGA THE BETTING FAVORITE AS MARCH MADNESS BEGINS Overall top seed Bulldogs favored to win the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, with Arizona, Duke and Kentucky also getting top odds, according to TheLines

Oddsmakers have installed the Gonzaga Bulldogs as the favorite to win the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, according to TheLines, which tracks odds in the U.S. regulated sports betting market.

Gonzaga, which has reached the championship game twice in the last four tournaments, is favored to win the Washington school’s first national championship, according to a consensus of the nation’s largest legal online sportsbooks — including DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, and PointsBet. Gonzaga, the No. 1 overall seed for the tourney, is listed at +350, which means bettors would win $350 for each $100 wagered on the Bulldogs.

A quartet of college basketball bluebloods are next on the favorites list. The Arizona Wildcats have the second-best odds at +650. The Kentucky Wildcats are next at +750, followed by the Duke Blue Devils and Kansas Jayhawks, both listed at +1100. The Baylor Bears, which won last year’s title by beating Gonzaga, are listed at +1200.

Duke, which has won five national championships under head coach Mike Krzyzewski, will get considerable media attention the longer it stays alive in the tournament. This will be the last tournament for Krzyzewski, who is retiring after the season. He is the winningest coach in men’s basketball history and only legendary UCLA coach John Wooden has more NCAA championships.

“The NCAA Tournament is one of the most captivating events in sports, and the single-most bet-on sporting event in the U.S.,” said Brett Collson, lead analyst for TheLines. “But the buzz about March Madness also comes from the nature of the tournament and brackets. From million-dollar contests to office pools, the number of people with interest in the games escalates year after year.”

There has never been a verifiable perfect bracket logged in the history of March Madness and the odds of doing so are astronomical. According to the NCAA, the odds of picking a perfect bracket with knowledge of the game are more than 120 billion to 1, and the odds of a perfect bracket by flipping a coin for each game are 9.2 quintillion to one.

So while Bally’s offers $100 million for a perfect bracket, one has better odds of becoming president of the United States, being killed by a shark or winning an Oscar, according to PlayUSA.com.

Consensus odds for the top-15 favorites to win this year’s men’s college basketball national championship, as of Sunday, March 13:

  • Gonzaga Bulldogs, +350
  • Arizona Wildcats, +650
  • Kentucky Wildcats, +750
  • Kansas Jayhawks, +1100
  • Duke Blue Devils, +1100
  • Baylor Bears, +1200
  • Purdue Boilermakers, +1500
  • Auburn Tigers, +1500
  • Texas Tech Red Raiders, +2200
  • Villanova Wildcats, +2200
  • UCLA Bruins, +2500
  • Tennessee Volunteers, +2200
  • Houston Cougars, +3000
  • Iowa Hawkeyes, +3500
  • Illinois Fighting Illini, +4000

Jackpot Digital, a leading manufacturer of electronic multiplayer dealerless poker tables, has announced that it has received approval from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority (SLGA) to act as a registered supplier of gaming supplies and services to regulated casinos in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

The approval follows the Company’s news release dated February 6, 2024, announcing the signing of a licensing agreement with the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) to install the Company’s Jackpot Blitz dealerless poker ETGs into SIGA casinos.

SIGA operates seven casinos and Playnow.com in Saskatchewan. At the outset, SIGA proposes to install Jackpot Blitz machines at its Dakota Dunes and Gold Horse Casino properties, located in Saskatoon and Lloydminster, respectively.

Jackpot CEO Jake Kalpakian said: “We are excited to receive approval as a gaming equipment supplier in Saskatchewan. Teams under the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC) banner have expanded their long-term partnership with Play Alberta, the province’s premier iGaming destination. As part of the agreement, the Flames will feature AGLC’s responsible gambling program, GameSense, on their home helmets and a Play Alberta insignia displayed on their home jerseys. The Stampeders, Wranglers, and Roughnecks will integrate the Play Alberta logo onto their uniforms.

“There’s significant importance now to showcase meaningful responsible gambling efforts in the iGaming industry. I’m proud of our initiatives to provide GameSense with such a visible platform. GameSense promotes healthy gambling habits online and in person and including AGLC’s responsible gambling platform over the course of this partnership is a huge accomplishment,” Kandice Machado, Chief Executive Officer at AGLC.

The agreement makes Play Alberta the exclusive sports betting and online gaming partner of the Flames, Wranglers, Stampeders, and Roughnecks. Through the partnership, Play Alberta and CSEC will develop unique partnerships and in-arena giveaways during the season.

“Through GameSense, our partnership with Play Alberta equips our fans with the knowledge required if they wish to participate in gaming while they support their home team. We are both proud and excited to extend our relationship with Play Alberta that makes cheering for our teams that much more fun while also generating revenue to support the quality of life for Albertans,” said CSEC President and CEO Robert Hayes.

Alberta is the first jurisdiction in North America to partner with professional sports franchises and integrate PlayAlberta.ca and social responsibility branding onto uniforms. It upholds AGLC’s commitment to responsible play, raising awareness of GameSense and Self-Exclusion, resources that give bettors the tools they need to make healthy gambling choices.

In addition, proceeds generated through the website go toward the province’s General Revenue Fund. In 2023–24, $235 million was generated for programs and services that Albertans rely on every day through Play Alberta, an increase of more than $42 million from the previous year.
