BLAST Premier reveals broadcast footprint for 2023

BLAST Premier has revealed its media rights distribution footprint for 2023 and will see the esports tournament organiser’s upcoming season broadcast in over 150 TV territories and available in 25 languages.

Ahead of the 2023 season, BLAST has secured a number of media rights partnerships along with renewing existing global media rights deals. Broadcast partners include: TV2 (Denmark), RTP (Portugal), Webedia (France), Pelajaat (Finland), StarTimes (Africa), Maincast (Ukraine), Viettel (Vietnam) and Relog (CIS and Balkans) among others.

The Counter-Strike tournament series will be broadcast by more than 40 leading TV networks and online platforms in all major esports regions around the world ranging from North Africa, LATAM, Asia, the Nordics and the CIS region among others.

Last September, the esports entertainment company revealed plans to host and produce this year’s Counter-Strike Major in France. The BLAST.tv Paris Major will take place at the Accor Arena, making it the first CS:GO Major to take place in France. The event will be BLAST’s first time hosting one of the most watched and loved esports events in the world.

BLAST.tv will be the home of 2023 France Major, where fans can get closer to the action than ever before. Innovative and fan-first viewing features will allow fans to tailor their viewing experience, relive key and exciting moments and impact the action unfolding before their eyes.

BLAST Premier is the world’s leading Counter-Strike tournament series, hosting the best players and teams, offering opportunities to regions across the globe and crowning the world champions of CS:GO. Up to 32 of the world’s best teams take part in the seven BLAST Premier events across the year with a combined prize pool of $2,475,000 on the line.

Global energy brand extends relationship with one of the world’s largest gaming festivals

The Esports World Cup Foundation (“EWCF”) and Aramco, one of the world’s leading integrated energy and chemicals companies, announced a strategic partnership that will see Aramco extend its sponsorship of the Esports World Cup, set to take place this summer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

As the official title partner of the Aramco SIM Arena, Aramco will present a high-end simulator zone where racing enthusiasts can compete in community tournaments at the Esports World Cup Festival. Fans can watch their favorite athletes and clubs compete in 21-game championships for a share of more than $60 million in prize money, the largest in esports history.

Abios, a global leader in esports data and odds provision, has appointed Rasmus Schmidt Christensen, formerly of Danish operator Danske Spil, as the company’s new Head of Odds Operations.

With a background in betting analytics, Schmidt Christensen is a seasoned industry veteran with a wealth of experience in esports and sports betting, spending nearly eight years improving the esports vertical at Danske Spil. Beginning his industry journey as a sports trader at the Danish betting operator, Schmidt Christensen gradually assumed more responsibility over the esports segment, ultimately taking charge of the vertical as an Esports Product Specialist.

The role allowed him to work closely with product, marketing and customer-focused teams, creating a comprehensive esports strategy for the operator. He used customer feedback to ensure the product met customer demands and ensured Danske Spil offered innovative product features early on, including player propositions.

As Head of Odds Operations, a newly created role at Abios, Schmidt Christensen will strengthen the Abios team by providing expertise in esports from Denmark, which has long been the home of Counter-Strike. Combining his knowledge of what esports fans want and product development, he will act as a bridge between trading and Abios’ automated odds setting, creating the ultimate end product for end users.
