Galaxy Racer, the world’s fastest growing esports, gaming and lifestyle company, takes a massive leap by signing with the newly established STZA (Special Technology Zones Authority) in the presence of Pakistani President Dr. Arif Alvi at a special ceremony held in Dubai, UAE.  STZA is a new Pakistani government initiative that encourages foreign technology companies to invest in Pakistan. Galaxy Racer has become the first esports company to establish itself with STZA.

On the occasion, Galaxy Racer also announced that they are hosting the biggest esports tournament in Pakistan with esports titles such as Tekken, PUBGM and FIFA that offers a total winning prize of 100,000 USD. It is scheduled to be held in December 2021. The event will also be hosting an Influencer Con, and a Toys and Gaming Festival, bringing the world of entertainment to Pakistan. Further details will be announced soon.

Fakhr-e-Alam has said that the forthcoming esports tournament will be the first in Pakistan to be televised nationwide through a partnership with Ten Sports Pakistan.

Galaxy Racer has recently announced its partnership with celebrity entrepreneur Fakhr-e-Alam as part of its South Asia expansion plans to grow the local ecosystem, with Fakhr-e-Alam spearheading Galaxy Racer Pakistan. Pakistan has recently legitimized esports in 2021, by granting it the ‘regular sports’ status, a big win for the esports industry in Pakistan.

With the rise of mobile games, developing countries have been recognised as one of the largest untapped emerging markets for esports and gaming. With 100 million broadband subscribers, Pakistan’s gaming scene has the potential to dramatically evolve and many youngsters have already made their mark. Earlier in 2021, Galaxy Racer signed Nyle ‘Nyle’ Hasan, the country’s top Fortnite player.

Galaxy Racer has a global footprint with over 400 million followers worldwide, with over 2 billion monthly views. Esports has gradually grown in popularity over the years and the global market is set to reach US$1 billion for the first time in 2021, according to a report by esports data intelligence firm, Newzoo.

Fakhr-e-Alam, CEO of Galaxy Racer Pakistan commented, “This is the beginning of esports and influencer marketing in Pakistan. We are all set to take Pakistani gamers and influencers to the rest of the world. With a vibrant youth and huge digital growth, we will see a massive paradigm shift in gaming and content consumption in Pakistan. Galaxy Racer’s aim is going to be simple and that is to fuel this growth at lightning speed.”

Amer Hashmi, Chairman of STZA, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Galaxy Racer to Pakistan. At STZA, we look forward to working with Galaxy Racer in establishing a better and healthier video gaming environment for Pakistani youth and create an atmosphere of further investment and growth in this segment in Pakistan.”

Back in January 2021, Galaxy Racer, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum, together with Cinepax, organised the first-ever Pakistan vs. India Fortnite tournament with a prize pool of US$10,000, the biggest prize pool in the history of any Pakistani esports tournament.

Earlier in July 2021, Galaxy Racer joined forces together with Arsenal superstar English Premier League footballer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang by hosting the first-ever Fortnite esports tournament between Europe and the Middle East with a EURO 10,000 prize pool.

Galaxy Racer has formed a three-year partnership with Spanish football league LaLiga. The partnership will see both entities collaborate to create an original content series that will feature players from LaLiga, as well as Galaxy Racer’s influencers.

Uzbekistan Introduces Penalties for Illegal Gambling Operations

Uzbekistan has introduced strict penalties for illegal gambling operations as the country prepares to launch its regulated betting market on October 9, 2025.

The new penalties target both domestic and foreign operators offering gambling services without a license. The new rules authorise fines indexed to the Uzbek Base Calculation Unit (BRV), a fiscal benchmark used for administrative penalties.

Foreign firms face fines of up to 25,000 Base Calculation Units, around US$882,000. Authorities can also seize illegal earnings, block access to banking and internet services, and ban repeat offenders from the Uzbek financial system. Unauthorised physical casinos, betting shops and mobile terminals will face the same sanctions.

Violations of anti-money laundering rules or personal data misuse carry fines of 15,000 BRV (about US$529,200), and unlicensed deposit-taking could result in penalties of up to US$352,900.

The changes were drafted by the National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP), which is overseeing the rollout of Uzbekistan’s new gambling law. NAPP will act as the interim regulator until a permanent authority is established.

Licensed operators must meet strict financial requirements. Online gambling firms need authorised capital of $4.57 million and a $2.05 million reserve fund. Lottery providers must show at least $1.64 million in capital and $1.11 million in reserves.

“This is not a pay-to-play regime. It’s a compliance-first market that will reward transparency and capital discipline,” NAPP has clarified in communications with potential applicants.

Gambling has been banned in Uzbekistan since 2007, except for limited state-run lotteries. The new system marks a shift from prohibition to strict regulation. A centralised system, the Unified State Register of Bets and Players (USRBP), will track all wagers and enforce ID checks and monthly betting limits.

Sanctions will be issued by NAPP’s director after internal review. Offending companies will have 15 days to appeal through NAPP or the courts. Half of all fines will go to the state budget; the rest will fund regulatory operations. Paying fines does not shield companies from further legal action.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the new framework in 2024, requiring that gambling revenue be used to fund national sports programmes. Licensing guidelines will be released soon, with applications opening before the October launch.
