Scottish Esports Hub Secures Funding of £5000

Scottish Esports Hub (SEH) has been awarded £5000 of funding through Firstport’s Start It Award, in conjunction with the Social Entrepreneurs Fund and the Scottish Government.

The award, which is designed to support social entrepreneurs in Scotland, is the biggest step SEH has taken in its two-year journey to launch. With this funding, SEH says everything it’s planned for Scottish esports is “now within reach”.

Scottish Esports Hub is a not-for-profit social enterprise based around esports careers and wellbeing advice. It says its main social impacts are employability and young people.

The hub will launch in late spring with an esports careers advice service encompassing guides, careers talks and a schools programme which will be piloted in the second half of 2021.

With the funding, SEH will set itself up as a company with a constitution, contracts and value guidelines being written by SENScot Legal.

The value guidelines, which everyone associated with SEH will agree to through contracts, will have clauses around equality, toxicity, discrimination, disability awareness and how esports is written. SEH says it hopes this will be the first steps to regulating Scottish esports.

The funding will also be used to pilot its schools programme in the second half of 2021, house SEH at The Glasgow Collective and raise awareness of SEH and Scottish esports through online marketing.

The award will also allow SEH to launch with two other departments focused on researching projects around Scottish esports and wellbeing and mental health within Scottish esports. These departments are SEH Research and SEH Wellbeing.

Brian Houston, founder of SEH, said: “Having entered the esports industry in September 2015, and working nearly exclusively in grassroots esports, SEH is the cumulation of everything I’ve learned in esports from individuals, groups, organisations and companies over the years especially all my friends in Scottish esports.”

“I cannot say how overwhelmed I am that SEH is one of the first esports projects The Scottish Government has funded. I don’t see this award as funding for SEH or myself though. This award is for Scottish esports and SEH will spend it accordingly to improve, support and grow Scottish esports for the better.”

Oddin.gg, the leading B2B provider of esports betting solutions, is proud to announce a new partnership with Veikkaus, Finland’s state-owned betting operator. The agreement will see Oddin.gg’s technology and data powering Veikkaus’s growing esports offering—starting with a strong focus on Counter-Strike 2 (CS2).

Veikkaus has set ambitious goals for its esports portfolio, aiming to double related revenue within the next year. To support this growth, the operator is strengthening its focus on quality content, reliable infrastructure, and innovative engagement formats—all areas where Oddin.gg’s solutions will play a central role.

Veikkaus’s focus on CS2 made Oddin.gg a natural fit. Alongside traditional markets, Oddin.gg also brings exclusive CS2 Duels via its 24/7 Fast Betting Content offering, adding fresh engagement opportunities for bettors. This blend of data depth and product innovation supports Veikkaus’s commitment to delivering a best-in-class esports betting experience for its Finnish base.

Andreas Reimblad VP, Sports Betting at Veikkaus, commenting on the partnership said: “Esports have been an important part of Veikkaus’ portfolio for several years, but in recent years it has been challenging to deliver a truly competitive offering and experience. What we value most in Oddin.gg is their drive to continuously improve the product and customer experience, while already being in a leading position. Together, we can take esports betting at Veikkaus to the next level, and we are extremely excited to work together with Oddin.gg.”

Marek Suchar, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Oddin.gg added:  “What makes this partnership exciting is the mindset Veikkaus brings. They’re serious about growing their esports offering and are already thinking beyond the basics—looking at things like local tournament data, new formats, and long-term product development. It’s the kind of collaboration where we can create something genuinely impactful—not just deliver and walk away.”

Thunderpick, the leading esports betting platform, in partnership with Oddin.gg, a provider of end-to-end esports betting solutions, today announced the exclusive launch of BetPeek, a first-of-its-kind interactive esports viewing experience available only on Thunderpick.io.

While most esports streams today limit fans to static broadcast feeds and pre-selected camera angles, BetPeek flips the script. For the first time, viewers can control how they watch the action—transforming every match into a personalized, immersive event.

BetPeek’s key features include:

  • Follow Any Player – Switch instantly to the POV of any competitor on the server.

  • Dynamic Camera Control – Place the camera anywhere on the map for a unique vantage point.

  • X-Ray Vision – Unlock strategic insights by seeing what players can’t.

  • Play, Pause & Rewind – Revisit every clutch play with DVR-style controls.

  • Integrated Betting Tools – Access deeper context and analysis to inform smarter wagers.

“Traditional esports streams have barely evolved; they’re often one-size-fits-all broadcasts that leave fans wishing for more control,” said Kelly Sanders, Head of Strategy at Thunderpick. “BetPeek completely changes that. By putting fans in the driver’s seat, we’re delivering an esports experience that’s not just more engaging, but truly revolutionary for bettors and spectators alike.”

Why It Matters

Until now, esports fans had little choice beyond passively watching standard tournament streams or fragmented co-streams. BetPeek represents the next era: an interactive, on-demand, and bet-integrated platform unlike anything else in the industry. For bettors, this means unprecedented visibility into momentum shifts, rotations, and player form. For fans, it’s a chance to experience the match exactly how they want.

Exclusive to Thunderpick

BetPeek is available only on Thunderpick.io, reinforcing Thunderpick’s position as the most innovative esports betting destination worldwide. In partnership with Oddin.gg, a global leader in esports betting solutions, Thunderpick continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in live, fan-first esports engagement.
