Helsinki: The Home of Mobile Gaming Innovation Hosts Pocket Gamer Connects’ 40th Event
Returning to its roots after a successful Toronto sprint, the Pocket Gamer Connects (PGC) conference lands once again in the heart of Finland’s gaming landscape – Helsinki. Join Pocket Gamer on September 12th and 13th, at Wanha Satama, Pikku Satamakatu 3-5, Helsinki, Finland to celebrate the 40th instance of Pocket Gamer Connects.
Helsinki’s gaming influence extends beyond mobile, with a 16% rise in active developer studios and a remarkable 200% increase in developer studio investments post-pandemic, encompassing PC and console platforms. This legacy cements Helsinki’s role as a natural host for PGC, offering an environment where innovation and gaming unite effortlessly.
The countdown begins for this year’s Helsinki event, situated in the very birthplace of mobile gaming, Finland, renowned for its collaborative gaming community rooted in the mid-1980s demoscene movement. With some of the most well-known companies in the sector (including the likes of Supercell and Rovio, the latter recently attracting a SEGA takeover). At the forefront of innovation, Finland leads the charge in VR, XR, and metaverse technologies, too, with plans to invest up to 13 million Euros by 2030 to shape the digital future.
This year’s edition of Pocket Gamer Connects will feature 200 speakers such as Elina Arponen of Quicksave Interactive, Tommi Lappalainen from Rovio, Veli-Pekka Puolakanaho from Remedy Entertainment, Jussi Tähtinen of Nitro Games, Jaakko Kylmäoja of Fingersoft, and many more. The event will also feature tracks such as Ad Insights, AI Advances, Big Screen Gaming, Industry Visions & Values, and many more. Developers, publishers, along with other influential speakers have been invited to share their insights and experiences with a network that aims to grow the mobile games community.
Dave Bradley, COO of Steel Media says, “We’ve been hosting events in Helsinki now since 2014. It’s one of the most vibrant and collaborative ecosystems for games in the whole world. After successful events in Seattle, Dubai and Toronto already this year, we’re excited to be back seeing our friends in Finland. It’s always a huge pleasure to be able to host this event in the spiritual home of mobile gaming and innovation! And this year, we’ve partnered with Games Forest Club to support sustainability within the games industry. We won’t just be celebrating the booming games industry here, we’ll also be promoting environmental responsibility.”
Recognised worldwide, Pocket Game Connects brings together leading minds and innovators in the gaming industry. This year’s PGC event in Helsinki will broaden its scope to encompass themes such as AI and Web3. Attendees can also connect with investors and publishers, while showcasing their mobile games and offering live demos. Celebrating the 40th edition of PGC Helsinki signifies a notable milestone, providing participants with a valuable chance to engage in a significant event within the gaming community.
Pocket Gamer Connects returns on September 12th and 13th in Wanha Satma, Pikku Satamakatu 3-5, 00160 Helsinki, Finland.
Tickets for the event are now live, and available here. The event supports the work of indies (the Global Game Jam is PGC’s official indie partner) and there are heavily subsidised options for indie teams to take part and even showcase their games in the expo area.

Find your Prince Charming in A Hopping Kiss by Elysium Studios

Valentines Day may be behind us, but over at popular software provider, Swintt, love is definitely in the air this month in A Hopping Kiss – the latest title in the Elysium Studios line-up where free spins and multipliers guarantee that a happy ending is never far away.
Set to a backdrop of a moonlit pond flanked by towering statues, A Hopping Kiss is a five-reel, 11-payline slot that draws its inspiration from traditional fairytales.
Featuring lily pads, potions, golden crowns and two wilds among its unique symbols, the game follows the story of a star-crossed romance as a spellbound princess looks to turn one lucky frog into her Prince Charming.
Should both of these characters appear simultaneously during a spin, they’ll substitute for any regular symbol before hopping to a new reel position on the following turn. If the two ever meet on adjacent reel spaces, however, this is where the magic really happens as they’ll both transform into a new Mega Wild that will remain locked in place while a complimentary re-spin takes place.
During this bonus re-spin, additional Golden Frog symbols come into play, with these potentially extending their tongues and snagging a reward from the multiplier bar above the reels to boost the value of any active payline wins before players are returned back to the standard base game.
Of course, this being an Elysium Studios slot, there’s also a fun free spins feature that can either be activated by landing three scatter symbols our bought into directly using the “Buy” button. When triggered normally, players will be prompted to swipe a reel to reveal the type of spins they’ll be playing, but when bought into, players will be able to choose between three different options.
Chasing Free Spins will ensure that a princess and a frog are always present on the reels and could potentially meet at any point to grant an additional re-spin, while Mega Wild Free Spins skip this step entirely and jump straight to adding a 2×2 or 3×3 wild to the reels on every spin. The third choice, Random Free Spins, can award either of these two bonuses – and during all three options, extra Free Spins will be added to the multiplier bar so that Golden Frogs can prolong the feature.
David Mann, Chief Executive Officer at Swintt, said: “The story of the princess and the frog is a beloved classic celebrated by many different cultures – but in A Hopping Kiss, Elysium Studios have given this time-worn tale a fresh set of legs. Packed with Free Spins and rewarding multipliers, it’s an enchanting addition to our line-up that’ll have players falling head over heels!”

In-demand provider to take the hotly anticipated show by storm with its battle-tested iGaming ecosystem

VeliTech is proud to announce its return to the SBC Summit Lisbon 2025, taking place from 16-18 September at Feira Internacional de Lisboa.
Building on last year’s momentum and following a year of significant growth and product milestones, the company is ready to demonstrate its battle-tested iGaming ecosystem for emerging markets.
Taking centre stage is VeliGames, an aggregation powerhouse by VeliTech, now supported by a newly launched dedicated website. Far more than a content library, VeliGames brings together scale, flexibility and engagement tools in one platform. The team is ready to demonstrate its full potential at stand A550, showing how it drives success for iGaming brands worldwide.
Giorgi Aleksidze, CEO at VeliTech, said: “Returning to SBC Lisbon for the second year running, we’re showcasing the depth of our battle-tested iGaming ecosystem in action. VeliGames is more than a content pipeline — it’s a complete growth engine for operators. And when combined with our other products, operators get everything they need to build, launch and scale a successful iGaming business.”
This year’s comeback to SBC Lisbon is marked by extra recognition, as the company is shortlisted in two SBC Awards 2025 categories: Multi-channel Supplier and Aggregator of the Year.

The session will explore opportunities, infrastructure challenges and the innovation shaping Africa’s sportsbook sector, drawing on the VeliTech experience supporting operators as they expand into new markets.
“Sports betting in Africa follows its own path, driven by cultural fit and player behaviour. Success here requires agility and deep local understanding, not one-size-fits-all solutions,” added Irakli Kakhidze, Director of Turnkey at VeliTech.
