SKYROCKET ACQUIRES “AMERICAN GODS” & ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF SKYROCKET STUDIOS

Skyrocket Entertainment, has snapped up the international gaming rights to Amazon Prime Video’s smash hit fantasy drama TV series, “American Gods”. Skyrocket will transform this world-renowned brand, into new gaming content and products and migrate them into the worldwide online gambling sector through its newly launched Skyrocket Studios division.

Based on Neil Gaiman’s 2001 namesake novel and initially adapted by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green for the premium cable network, Starz, the Emmy Award nominated “American Gods” is produced by Fremantle and Distributed by Lionsgate Television. Working in collaboration with Bang Bang Games, a leading games studio known for smash hit games such as Deal Or No Deal, Dumb and Dumber and Austin Powers, “American Gods” will be transformed into a feature-rich online gambling Slot game, themed around the battle between Old Gods and New Gods. The game will be packed full of features, including four base game bonuses all played out on expanded reels. The deal was struck between Fremantle’s VP Commercial & Licensing, Angela Hueber and Skyrocket CEO, Sean O’Kelly. Production for the game has commenced and is due to be delivered in Q4 2021.

Skyrocket Studios is an all-new games studio focussed on bringing the biggest worldwide brands from the worlds of film, TV, music and sport to the global gaming audiences. The ambition is to deliver up to 20 premium branded Slot games per year. The launch also sees the appointment of former Gibraltar Deputy Head of Gaming, bet365, Adam Howland who boards Head of Sales for Skyrocket Studios. Adam’s specialist experience includes B2B sales at Heineken, rapidly climbing the ranks at gambling giant bet365 from account management to Deputy Head of Gaming, where he was also a non-executive board member.

Skyrocket CEO, Sean O’Kelly, said: “We are excited to launch Skyrocket Studios, the world’s first games studio to specialise solely in premium branded games. ‘American Gods’ is loved by audiences worldwide and we’re thrilled to be opening this up to new audiences through the gaming market. Launched at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, Skyrocket Entertainment transforms iconic Hollywood feature films and branded intellectual property rights into content for real and social money gaming. The company acquired the international rights to 75 feature films including Rambo, The Expendables, and The Fallen franchise. In 2019 Skyrocket acquired The Games Company to broaden its reach in delivering exciting and standout games.

In addition to now leveraging IGT PlaySports’ expertise for a range of trading-related services, Northern Waters has powered its sportsbook with IGT’s award-winning platform and self-service betting technology since 2021.

NHRA announced an exciting and landmark step forward for the company with the launch of PlayNHRA, an innovative new initiative that will provide fans opportunities to engage in fantasy games, gaming, and betting for NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events.

As part of PlayNHRA, NHRA’s partnerships with leading sports books and fantasy sports providers will enable fans to sign up for free and legally wager on national events and other outcomes in the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series.

“PlayNHRA marks a huge and significant step forward for the NHRA and its fans. NIGC Announces Acting Chair

The National Indian Gaming Commission announced the President’s appointment of Associate Commissioner Sharon M. Avery as Acting Chair of the Agency, effective May 15, 2024. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland recently appointed Avery to a three-year term as Associate Commissioner, effective May 6, 2024. Avery will serve both as Associate Commissioner and Acting Chair until a presidentially appointed, Senate-confirmed Chair is in place.

As Acting Chair, Avery has the same statutory authority to lead the Agency and take official actions as a Senate-confirmed appointee.

“I am humbled the administration has entrusted me with the distinguished opportunity to serve as the NIGC Acting Chair. In this capacity, and to the best of my abilities, I will diligently execute my duties and responsibilities designated by the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act to continue the Agency’s regulatory oversight of tribal gaming facilities without disruption, until a permanent Chair has been confirmed,” said Avery.

Avery is an enrolled member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. She has been with the NIGC for over four years where she has served as an Associate General Counsel in the NIGC Office of General Counsel. Before joining the NIGC, Avery served for more than 10 years in the legal department for the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. Most recently, she served as the Tribe’s General Counsel for Tribal Operations.
